It's been a loooooooong weekend, but it's been a GREAT weekend!!! And not just because Mimi & Pop watched the kiddos so Lance and I could steal away for a little afternoon date {thanks!!}
So here's the rundown on Potty Training Boot Camp...
First, I must mention that prior to this weekend, Grace was already used to using the potty before naptime and before bedtime and did so successfully pretty much every day. The rest of the time was just hit & miss since we weren't too consistent.
FRIDAY:
I started kinda late. Wanted to start that morning, but it was a late night the night before and I didn't get the rewards wrapped until naptime + Grace had Gymboree that morning, so we didn't officially begin boot camp until the afternoon.
Potty Wins: 2 out of 4
Pee Pee Wins: 2 out of 4
Day 1 Success rate: 50%
SATURDAY:
Not off to a great start. Sheets wet from the night before even though Grace wore a diaper to bed. Pee pee accidents on the sofa and in her chair during breakfast. Not sure Lance and I are going to last. This potty training business is exhausting. Would be so much easier to stick on a pull-up and call it quits. But we press on. Seeing her little face light up when she finally pee pees in the potty mid-morning, gets a reward, and gets to pick out what underwear she wants to wear gives us renewed energy. We can do this. Not sure of the exact Potty vs. Pee Pee count, but I'd say about 50% still for Day 2.
SUNDAY:
Being home-bound is starting to wear on us all. We are used to going out and about. BUT Grace is dry when she wakes up and so off to the potty we go. Bingo! I am amazed at how well she's doing. Not sure if it's the rewards, but she has NO PEE PEE ACCIDENTS ALL DAY LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TMI warning (but hey, this is our family's journal so we need to remember these sort of details :) She even goes poo poo in the potty!!!! We're all ecstatic. Even Jaxon, our dog, is joining in our celebratory pee pee dances after every trip to the potty.
Potty Wins: 100%
Pee Pee Wins: 0%
These two pictures pretty much sum up how we're feeling: We're all on Cloud 9! MONDAY:
Still riding high on yesterday's victory, we are even more determined than ever to give this our all. Grace wakes up dry again. By now she's put 2 and 2 together and wants to earn a reward (even when she doesn't really need to go potty) so our trips to the potty are frequent and sometimes we're all hanging out in the bathroom for 5-10 minutes. BUT...NO PEE PEE ACCIDENTS ALL DAY LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's right, she's managed to go two full days without pee peeing in her underwear!! If you would have told us we would be at this point two days ago, we wouldn't have believed it. Today we even venture to the grocery store wearing big girl panties. She does great! WE ARE SO VERY PROUD OF HER FOR TRYING SO HARD!!! She's accumulated a total of 17 stickers on her Potty Success Chart. I think I'm more proud of this "diploma" than my own from college and grad school :)
Perseverance really is key. We still have a ways to go with her telling us when she needs to go herself versus us asking her if she needs to go when it's been a couple of hours and she hasn't gone to the potty yet, but we've made great strides this weekend so I think Potty Training Boot Camp was a success!
To celebrate her Pee Pee Victory and Back to School (tomorrow), we went out for ice cream. Gummy Worm = YUM! Grace~ Mama & Daddy are SOOOOO proud of you for trying so hard and sticking with it. You are definitely a Big Girl and you DO have Potty Power!! We love you, little pumpkin!! XOXO
Yea Grace!!!
