under the weather

Yup, this picture pretty much sums it up. We've been under the weather. The little pumpkin and I. Luckily it looks like Lance and Hudson may have escaped this round.

Thursday, Grace's left eye started looking really goopy and by that night she had full-blown pink eye. Fun times. Thursday night I went to bed at 9pm - unheard of - my throat was scratchy and I just didn't feel good. I thought it was just my body telling me to slow down. After all, I've been running myself to the ground working on a huge fundraiser for next Tuesday. Friday morning, I knew it was going to be a tough day. Woke up to a full-on sore throat and achiness. Blew it off and kept on going, downing countless glasses of ice cold water to numb the pain.

By noon I felt a fever creep on. Thankfully, Lance had taken the afternoon off to watch Grace and Hudson so I could get caught up on the fundraiser. It worked out really well, because right after I made it home I had to go out again...to Quick Care or Urgent Care or whatever you call the after hours docs with 101.6 fever to boot.

I was so scared they were going to tell me it was the flu - regular or swine or H1N1 or whatever the acronym - but no, lucky me it was strep throat. Double fun times. A shot later and I was on my way, Z-pak in one hand and a face mask on the other. Forced to rest. Praying no one else would get it.

Saturday, the little pumpkin came down with the same itchy throat. Poor baby. Got her started on antibiotics right away. Luckily this little guy is easily entertained and loves to watch his big sissy on the monitor while she sleeps. Thankfully both of us are feeling lots better tonight. And in the meantime, I can scratch Christmas Cards off my to do list. They're so sweet. I'm so glad I went with my gut and used beautiful fall pictures - pumpkins and all!

Hope you had a fun (and healthy) weekend! Here's to a better week at our household!
