it's about time...

Two years ago I tried my hand at sewing for the first time. Grace was just about to turn 1 and I took a pillowcase dress class at a local quilt shop in hopes of learning to sew so I could make her lots of pretties to wear.

I made the sweetest little dress for Grace - SEE HERE - but thinking the pattern was too small, my friend Heidi and I took it upon ourselves to add yardage to our little dresses. Well, two years later the little pumpkin is FINALLY big enough to wear the dress.

She wore it today as we had a belated birthday lunch for Papa J at Ruby Tuesday. Whatcha think? Okay, here's a better picture, but I couldn't pass that one up since she was looking so sweet and lady like :)
I lucked out that a pair of Matilda Jane ruffles from last spring coordinated perfectly! I love when things work out that way!!

I love ric rac and I love polka dots so polka dot ric rac = LOVE! Then there's that sweet bunny toile fabric...LOVE...I'm so ready for Spring! We had a great lunch! Here's Papa J with the littles. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPA J!!!

  3. The dress is adorable! Good job:)
I have to admit I am a little obbsessed with your clothes choice for your sweet little Grace! I LOVE your style. I have found a few cute sellers on ETSY but I spend so much time sifting through all the pages. I was wondering if you could send me an email with top choices for girl clothes on ETSY or just the internet in general? I find a a cute seller and then they close their shop! Thanks so much. I love the ruffle pant look:)

  5. Thanks gals! I'm so proud of that little dress...probably because I was at that 2-hr sewing class for like 5 hrs getting it finished!!! Ha, ha - I've got a long ways to go, but I love it!

Heather~ My sewing machine sat in a box for 5 years before I ever used it (blush).

England Fa~ I shop EVERYWHERE! he, he, he...Give me a couple of days and I'll go through my etsy favorite sellers list and pick some good ones. My hands down fave boutique designer is my good friend Angel of TaDa Creations (see sidebar) but she is taking an extended break from sewing to take care of her littles right now. I'd say 90% of the cuteness in Grace's closet came from her :)

Angel~ if you're reading...I've got a lot of customers for you when you open up shop again!!! he, he, he

  7. Jessica, the dress is adorable on her. And you should be so proud that YOU made it! Lovin' her shoes too.

Oh and thanks for the shout out! I think there were only 2 sets I ever made that you didn't buy. LOL I'll be giving away at least one of the dresses I'm working on right now, as part of my 2nd blogging anniversary next month. Y'all are welcome to stop by.
