Quite possibly the longest post in blog history...don't say I didn't warn you!
Yes, I could have split this post into several to cut down on the number of photos, but who has time for that when there are other parties to plan?? He, He, He Click on the collage to see it bigger.
Here it goes...
My sweet 3 year old little pumpkin!
She was so cute and so excited for her Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Party. When she told me, "Thank you, Mama. This was my BEST birthday EVER!" it made all the late nights planning her party worth it.
A Little Welcome Sign The morning of the party I decided we needed something to disguise our not-so-pretty flowerbeds and POOF! the signs were born :)
Remember these wellies??? They make cute decorations too! The Birthday Hats! Not happy with the ones I found, I decided to make my own...for every sweet little party guest (sounds simple enough, right? yeah, right - by the 10th hat, I started wondering what in the world I was thinking...and then by the 17th hat - you don't want to know what I was thinking). Anywho...Pink + red for the girls and red + green for the little guys with cute initials for the kids and the number "3" on Grace's.
Tableware I wanted to go all vintage but that wasn't very cost effective when it came to plates, napkins, cups. I'm not too crazy about the modernized SS. I really prefer the original Strawberry, don't you?
One more peek at the invites - so cute! You can see more of those HERE. Vintage Candy Cups - love those! Sweet polka dots and a super sweet pic! The Cake...also known as "the request that started it all". You can read more about that HERE. It was so yummy too! White chocolate tinted pink just for the little pumpkin :) And no, I didn't make it - I have a super sweet local cake baker that makes all our cakes. I am in awe of cake decorators and how they can transform an idea into a masterpiece! Love all the cute details! The cute table all set up - yes, an explosion of pink + red with a bit of green mixed in just for fun! The little pumpkin was so excited to see it all set up for the first time! And who can resist a little taste test of that cake?! Seeing her so happy made ME so very happy!! Right before the party started Papa J surprised Grace with one more party guest. Her first fish! She was so excited! She only had one question: is it a boy fish or a girl fish? It's a boy...and she didn't hold that too much against him ;) She quickly named him Tiki Tiki (?) Time to get this party started!!! I love that our backyard sounded like a school playground. There's nothing better than belly laughs in my book! I LOVE this little guy!! Princess Amelia in her Castle! Bubbles, bubbles everywhere! Time for Cake! (every party needs a little faux pas, right?...I completely messed up the timing of the Chicken & Sausage Spaghetti, so we had cake before dinner) Get ready Hudson! It'll soon be your turn!! Loving every minute of it... Make a Wish! Cake, ice cream, and Strawberry Shortcake cupcakes! The little pumpkin made my day when she decided to forego a slice of cake in favor of one of my homemade cupcakes - love that girl!
Time for presents!! Some favorites...Skittles lip gloss in a cute SS tin purse - thanks Carson!!! Girly girl all the time! Not sure what this is called - Fiber Optic Light??? Grace LOVES this! Thanks Aunt Tammie!! A mama favorite - the SWEETEST vintage SS books! Thank you Preston!!!
Relaxing... Party Favors! Cute "strawberry" buckets for the boys (my attempt to adapt a super girly theme for all my favorite boys). and tin lunchboxes for the girls ...all filled with fun goodies to enjoy! THANK YOU family & friends for making the little pumpkin's special day so much fun!
HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY, GRACE!!!
Mama, Daddy, & Hudson LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! ♥ XOXO ♥

Thank you all for all the sweet comments! It really was a fun day for the little pumpkin and I loved making all the sweet what nots for the party. I hope when she looks back on her childhood she'll just remember it as a happy one...hope she'll just remember her mama using the gifts God gave her to make it special for her and her brother. Thanks for sharing our special day through this blog!
ReplyDeleteHi Jessica,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Kate and I found your blog through a friend who thought I would like your style :) This is the first time I've really figured out what a blog was (slightly embarrassing I know) but it's super cool. You do a nice job and I like the idea that you will make a book out of it for your kids! I am writing because I'm wondering if you can point me in the right direction to find out how to make those adorable birthday hats. I MUST make one for my daughter's upcoming birthday.
Thanks!

http://littlepumpkingrace.blogspot.com/2011/03/party-hats-lulu-co.html
There are also several tutorials for different types of hats you can google that might help if you want to make one yourself. Just type party hats or birthday hats :)
Okay, I PUFFY HEART LOVE EVERY SINGLE THING about this party. You are so super talented, WOW! Sent you a private email! I am in love!
ReplyDeleteYou did an amazing job. I am planning a 1st birthday party for my baby and I'd love to steal a couple of your ideas for her party.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the personalized strawberry shortcake stickers for the birthday treat baskets??? Please e-mail me at
dianapizaguirre@katyisd.org
Hello. I found your blog by searching for strawberry themed party ideas and all I can say is WOW! All of your parties are so beautiful and your children are so blessed to have such a creative mom! I hope you dont mind that I stop by from time to time to get inspiration for my little one's parties! Again, amazing!
ReplyDeleteInspired,
Sara
Awesome job! I am in the process of planning a SS 4th birthday party for my daughter. I had a SS party for my 4th birthday as well:) I love that all of the characters that were popular when I was little are coming back. Those ruffle pants are too cute. Did you make them? If so, do you make them to sell? I have been looking everywhere for green and white striped fabric with no luck. Thanks for all of the wonderful, inspiring ideas!
ReplyDeleteOMG--everything about this party is just so well thought out--your attention to detail is truly inspiring! My soon-to-be 4 year old is getting geared up for her SS b-day party, so your daughter's party provided some great ideas. Quick question for you about the cake--is it covered in fondant?
ReplyDeleteHi I just cant stop looking at all your post..you are truely talented! Can I ask you where you found the little strawberry print fabric?
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the sweet comments!!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I didn't receive notification of some of the more recent comments - so sorry I'm just now answering some of your Q's!.................
Courtney~ The strawberry fabric was part of the Lecien Old New Collection...Strawberries on Pink. It is out of print now and a bit hard to find, but here it is on the white background:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/74704577/htf-japanese-lecien-old-new-strawberries?ref=sr_gallery_5&ga_search_query=lecien+old+new+&ga_search_type=all&ga_facet=
Dipti~ Yes, the cake was covered in fondant. It was exactly what I wanted - I love the cake! We have a really talented cake lady that has made all of our cakes since our wedding!
Cathy~ I bought the pants from Momi Boutique on etsy:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/momiboutique?ref=ss_profile
I believe she is out of the green/white stripeda knit fabric. Here is another pair I found - not quite the same, but still so cute!
http://www.etsy.com/listing/74617010/tree-top-stripe-ruffle-pants
Thanks!
Jessica
Hi! Your Daughter's Strawberry Shortcake Birthday party looked darling and so well thought out! Great Job! Did you make her outfit or where did you find it... so Cute!
ReplyDeletechers, Ursula
I just found your blog threw kelly's korner. You are very talented. This party is so so cute.
ReplyDeleteLove this! Where did you get the tin lunch boxes for favors?
ReplyDeleteThank you ladies for the sweet comments!
ReplyDeleteHi, Ursula~ Sorry I'm just now seeing your message!! Yes, my mom and I made Grace's dress. The apron was a gift from my friend Angel (etsy shop: tadacreations) and the green/white striped pants were from etsy shop: momiboutique!
Charis~ I bought the tins from the seasonal section at JoAnn Fabrics. They were $2.50/each.
Hello! I wanted to tell you that I love your blog. I was looking for ideas for a vintage strawberry shortcake party and I came across your site. I have just started my own blog with a friend, and posted my daughter's party. I mention your site in my blog, so you might want to take a look! Thank you so much, I will continue to follow you.
ReplyDeleteRebecca
desertgirlsvintage.blogspot.com
Your ideas are soo awesome!!!! you made a mention that the tin boxes were from Joann's do you remember about what season u purchased them??? I've tried looking for them but no luck
ReplyDeleteAww...thank you for the sweet comments!! I bought the tins at JoAnn's in January, 2010. They were in the dollar value section, $2.50/each.
ReplyDeleteI am just loving your party hats and, really, all of your party and craft ideas. Your blog is adorable.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning my daughters 3rd birthday party and the theme is Strawberry Shortcake, her favorite!!! Did you make your daughters outfit? I've looked everywhere for something similar to this but have found nothing, I LOVE this!! I would love to know where you found it or if you make custom outfits?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
Melinda
Hi, Melinda,
ReplyDeleteMy mom made the jumper dress, my friend Angel (tadacreations.blogspot.com) made the apron as a gift for Grace (she has a tutorial on her blog, if you're interested!), and I bought the pants from Momi Boutique on etsy.
Hope that helps!! LOVE SSC - your daughter is going to have so much fun at her party!
do you still have her outfit and would you be interested in selling it? If not, how much would you charge to make another dress? My little girl is turning 3 at the end of March and I LOVE everything you did for your little pumpkin's birthday party! We are doing SSC too, so I'm very interested in anything you have! Did you ever post a tutorial for the hats you made? What are they made of? Thanks
ReplyDeleteHi, Krystina,
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I don't have her outfit for sale. The apron was a special handmade gift from a friend and my mom made the jumper so we're holding on to those.
I bought her pants from Momi Boutique on etsy.
I sell the hats so I don't have a tutorial up, but you may find a tutorial for a similar style hat by googling birthday hats. If you are interested in purchasing a hat, you can find pictures of past designs I've made here:
http://pinterest.com/lilpumpkingrace/lulu-and-co/
and information on ordering here:
http://www.littlepumpkingrace.com/2011/03/party-hats-lulu-co.html
SSC is such a fun theme! Good luck with your little girl's party!!
~Jessica
You did amazing with your Strawberry shortcake party!
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering if you could tell me how you created the stickers that you put on the party favors?
Thanks, Ashley!
ReplyDeleteI bought the stickers ready to go from an ebay seller, but it doesn't look like they are in business anymore.
You can find similar ones on etsy (and I bet ebay too, although I don't really buy on ebay anymore) by searching "vintage strawberry shortcake labels" or "strawberry shortcake birthday stickers", etc.
You can also buy the Avery labels at your local Office Depot, etc. and purchase a digital file such as this one:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/78008449/digital-clipart-vintage-strawberry
and create your own. You can also make invitations and other party printables that way too! :)
Your party was adorable! My daughter wants a strawberry shortcake party and I was depressed because I was scared I wouldnt be able to be very creative with it! Thanks for the ideas!!
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't love Strawberry Shortcake ? Takes me back to my childhood :-)
ReplyDeleteI am doing this same theme for my lil Gabby's 4th Birthday party. And your party has helped gives us lots inspiration ;-) Great job! Sweet Vintage party.
Sorry to bother you. I know you are one busy mom. What's the name of the fabric used on Grace's dress? Especially the green fabric. As Always enjoy your blog.
Also, I am going to be sending you a hat order in the next couple of months.
God Bless :-)
Where did you find the tins???
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your sweet comments!
ReplyDeleteThe green fabric is part of the Jennifer Paganelli Girlfriends line. Here's a link:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BOOAK-Fabric-Jennifer-Paganelli-Girlfriends-Karen-Sis-Boom-Lime-Green-Flower-OOP-/230714013125
The tins came from Jo Ann Fabrics...from their dollar value section at the time. They were $2.50/each.
Hope that helps and YES, send me those hat orders! :)
Jessica
So adorable!
ReplyDeleteWe are doing a Strawberry shortcake theme and love your tin lunch pails. Where on earth did you find them??
Thanks so much for your help!

ReplyDeleteLove all of your party ideas so much!! My little girl is turning 5 in March and wants to have a Strawberry Shortcake birthday party. Could I order a party hat for her that says 5 that is like the one that you made for your daughter? Do you do etsy or paypal? Thanks so much!:)

ReplyDeleteHi, Dana,
ReplyDeleteYes, I do have an etsy shop :)
That hat is $26 shipped...would you like for me to set up a listing for you? When do you need the hat by?
thanks,
Jessica
Yes that would be wonderful!! Could you make the hat just like the pink one your daughter had on in beginning photos with the number 5? I would need it by the end of the month if that is okay because I want to have time to take a photo of her wearing it for her birthday party invite. That would be great if you can set up listing. The email I use is danaluvs2run@yahoo.com. Thanks so much!:)
ReplyDeleteI sure can! Just emailed you a link to your etsy listing.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
Jessica
