It's no wonder our tv/dvd/cable doesn't work half the time...we've got a curious little monkey who likes to check things out all day long... But that's the least of my worries.

It all started like our usual Saturday. Lance got up with the kids to let me sleep in until 8:30, 9a on a good Saturday *wink*. I'm seriously grateful for a husband that not only lets me sleep in, but makes chocolate chip pancakes with the little pumpkin...HEART-SHAPED chocolate chip pancakes...and then saves me some. Love you, hon!

Okay, back to my story...I've been cooking a bunch here lately, casseroles mostly, but I needed a break today, so for lunch we decided to go out to eat. As we were about to leave TGI Friday's, it started to rain so instead of stopping for ice cream, Lance got it to go and I stayed in the car with the littles. And that's when it happened.

Apparently, silence does not equal napping kids. No, at least not 100%. While we had a 50% nap success, the other 50% was busy...hmmm, how should I phrase it...busy practicing the art of self expression. Here, take a look: Yes, thank you TGI Friday's for the little packet of crayons. They made a great distraction indeed. The little pumpkin pulled down her car seat straps and went to town with the crayons. And no, she doesn't have a deer-in-the-headlights look because I was super mad. Rather, I think she was quite surprised that after pausing for a moment, all I could think to do was laugh and pull out the camera.

Yes, I've either arrived at a point in motherhood where I've really learned to let the little things go or..........and this one is much more likely...I had a vivid flashback to 1981 or so when at age 3, I decided to impress my own mom with my artistic talents by carving...yes, CARVING...a row about a foot and a half long of dancing ballerinas in my mom's newish Chevy Malibu. Yes, little "T" shaped carvings all linked up together like the Rockettes.

I'm not sure if I got a get-out-of-jail-free card or not back then, but I decided to let the little pumpkin slide other than helping to clean it up. And I'm glad I did because I would have missed this face when we got home:
Priceless! {And yes, we talked all about where it's okay/not okay to color.}

In other news...indeed our baby boy is growing up. We took down the changing table top this weekend (not that we used it much anyway - the bed works much better when wresting a gator for a diaper change :). In its place now this: Do you remember having one of these little Fisher Price radios growing up? Oh, I love this so much! Thank you Davenport's for giving one to Hudson me!! And some fun pictures of the little guy having fun with all his new birthday toys. Getting the hang of it. Intrigued by the textures in this little book I made for him (out of a Martha Stewart kit). Oh, how I love these little piggies! And while we're on the subject of toys...vintage toys...remember having one of these? I love that Fisher Price has re-released all these fun classic toys. LOVE toys that encourage kids to be creative in their play. Thank you Bourgeois' for getting it for Hudson (and Grace ;)! So.....what's your favorite toy from childhood?

We're so happy you love the radio! When I saw it, I knew it would be a perfect addition to Hudson's room.

Also, how awesome was it that we ran into each other at Target and even better - you found Carson's little Woody hot wheel car! We're so EXCITED!! Thank you so much!

Let's plan a play date soon - and I'll look into the train ride plans and email you. See you soon!

Never a dull moment is there? Hudson looks so big standing up there. My faves were the vintage clock and the tv oh and of course the record player. My aunt found one on eBay, wish they would bring that one back too.

As my Mom used to say: "What goes around comes around". Oh, how true!!! I laughed when I read this post and remembered "the rockettes".
Self-expression through creativity is wonderful.
I have no doubts that Grace will be as creative as you. Way to go ladies!
Love, Noonie
