So I somehow *volunteered* to make caramel apples for Grace's Apple Tasting Party today at preschool. Problem is, I had never made caramel apples before (Why in the world do I volunteer to bring stuff I've never made before??? Hmmm...will have to remember that for the Bake Sale!) So last night about 10 pm I set off on my quest to make a preschool worthy snack.
How hard could it be, right? Just melt, dip, sprinkle, set. Or so I thought. Little did I know that you have to sprinkle/coat SUPER FAST and then.................the apples have to set for like 1 1/2 hours in the refrigerator. WHAAAAAT????
Needless to say, it was a LOooooOooOOong night! But I think they turned out cute anyway...in a lopsided, kid-made-them kind of way :)
Whatcha think?
{sorry for the grainy pictures...there just isn't good lighting at 1am, you know?!} I made the cute little tags using a free printable from Bird Crafts via Skip to My Lou. Check it out HERE! They were fun to make (and tasted yummy!) so I'm sure I'll be making these again for halloween. The little pumpkin was soooooo excited to take them to school and as soon as we walked in her room she said, "Look what WE made!!!!" he he he Now...if only Hudson would take a good nap so I could catch a few zzzzz's...it's going to be a busy weekend...Circus tonight...Hudson's baptism tomorrow!

Oh it sounds like you have a wonderful week-end planned. Enjoy, enjoy!
The apples turned out super cute. Where did you find those tiny apples? I've never seen them that small for sale. Is it a southern thing.
Ok, laughing at the "what WE made" comment by Grace. hehehehohoho
They look fantastic! I want one!!! This reminded me of a time when my girls were in high school, and we hosted a lot of parties here for their teams and such. We had a big volleyball team party here, and I had made caramel apples for them. I made dozens..and they were so pretty. I took them out for the girls after dinner, and much to my dismay...almost every single girl had braces on their teeth and could not eat them!!!!!! I almost cried!!! My neighbors were happy though! Happy Fall to you too.
Good job! Your treats and presentation are always so adorable. I'm sure they were a hit...
Next time, try keeping the apples in the fridge before coating them with caramel. I have good luck doing that and the caramel sets up a bit faster too.
Happy Weekending!
They turned out so cute...not that I doubted they would :) Love how Grace took some credit too...love our little girls! Now I need to go make some carmel apples!
They turned out great! I want one! LOL. Hope u get some rest before the carnival :)
You did such a great job. They are so cute! Thanks for the tip on the little tags...I love making caramel apples at this time of year...and I especially love the sprinkles you added. :)
The tags were a perfect touch! I am inspired! Thanks for sharing!! Just saw lots of cute free printables on Kinser Event Company. Can't wait to see your circus and baptism posts!
Thanks y'all!
Angel~ they're not teeny tiny, but they are smaller than the regular ones. I bought them in a bag at Target.
Thanks for the tip Colleen! I'll do that next time for sure!
