Hawaii Five-0 {a birthday party for the sweetest principal}

Last month, Grace's principal turned the fabulous
5-0 and we celebrated her with a fun hawaiian-inspired surprise lunch in the faculty lounge.  She was such a great sport to don on this outfit!
Our "Teacher Treat" mom group pulled together and came up with this fun spread...
A local baker made this yummy cake...
We had lots of sweet and savory treats, like hawaiian pulled chicken, sweet & sour meatballs {my first time to make them and they turned out yummy - yay!!}, pineapple & ham skewers, coleslaw, a delicious fruit dip, the cutest palm tree veggie tray, and an adorable fruit display...I'm getting hungry just thinking about it all - ha!
We served sweet and unsweet tea from this fun drink station...
The sweets table, including the awesome cake and the delicious macademia nut cookies...
Lots of fun decor all throughout the lounge...
And my favorite...the little fish in vases!
I loved how excited she was when she saw everything!
Such a good sport!!
The teachers gave her this fun book full of sweet sentiments and gift cards!
I think everyone enjoyed it!
And one of the sweetest moments...they came to sing her happy birthday!
I hope you had a fun lunch, Mary! Thank you for leading our wonderful school!!

  1. Wow. What a nice thing to do for your principal and all of your littles' teachers this week. As a teacher, this would mean so much to me so I know that they loved it too. This Hawaii party was awesome. I love how y'all pay such attention to detail for the teachers. That means a lot. Also, I love this teacher's lounge. Just wondering, do the teacher's get to have lunch their daily or do they go to the lunchroom with the kids. Also, is this public, private, or charter school? I am always impressed with all they do. Grace's writing was wonderful, too. :) Thanks for sharing.

  2. Thank you, Leanne!

It's a public school. The teacher's lounge was remodeled last Spring - I love how it turned out! The teachers go to the lunchroom with the children but they take turns so they can have a little 30 min. lunchbreak or so by themselves if they would like.

On Wednesdays, we have Teacher Treat Day and groups of 4-5 moms sign up to provide a lunch for all of the faculty. It can be as simple or as fancy as the moms want to make it. I love being a part of this group! We have great participation, which means that you really only provide lunch once/year, making it very feasible for anyone to participate.

I love hospitality and I don't think we can ever do enough to let our teachers know how much they mean to us, so any little chance I get to make their day a little bit more special, I'm in! :)
